Use the following guide to ensure you have selected the air conditioning unit that will properly cool the space you desire. This guide is developed for normal room insulation, number of windows, and sun exposure, with two people occupying the conditioned space:
Adjust the room air conditioner capacity found in the table for the following conditions.
- Reduce capacity by 10% for heavily shaded areas.
- Increase capacity by 10% for very sunny areas.
- Add 600 Btuh for each additional person (more than two people)
- Add 4,000 Btuh if area to be cooled is a kitchen.
